Gifu > Megumi no Yu Hot Spring (恵みの湯): A medicinal herb hot spring near Nagoya

※Description:
Located just minutes from the historic Inuyama-jō Castle (犬山城) in Gifu Prefecture (岐阜県), Megumi no Yu (恵みの湯) Onsen offers the perfect respite after a day of exploring Inuyama’s cultural riches. This onsen combines mineral-enriched hot springs and medicinal herbs, drawing on local herb-growing traditions dating back to the Edo era.
The water comes from the mineral-rich, lightly carbonated natural spring Gozen-sui (御前水), known since the Edo period for its benefits to the body. In addition, there are herbal baths made with local medicinal herbs, which are grown and processed on the onsen farm itself. Options include the Nemuri-yu (眠り湯), a low-temperature bath with soothing aromas, and the Harb Rōryū (ハーブロウリュ) steam sauna, where fresh herbs such as rosemary and chamomile fill the air.
In addition to its aquatic facilities, Megumi no Yu offers a dining experience with fresh ingredients and locally grown herbs. At the restaurant Megumi no Shokudō (めぐみの食堂), the signature dishes include the Karaage Teishoku (唐揚げ定食), a menu that combines fried chicken seasoned with house herbs, and the Hambāgu Teishoku (ハンバーグ定食), accompanied by fresh salads and kenchinjiru soup. For tea lovers, local herbal teas are an excellent option to end the day.
A visit to Megumi no Yu is not only an opportunity to relax, but also to connect with the traditions and natural resources of the region, in a peaceful and welcoming environment.
