Toyama > Nukumori no sato Onsen (ぬく森の郷): Hot springs from 15 million years ago

※Description:

Nukumori no Sato (ぬく森の郷) is an onsen (温泉) in Toyama Prefecture (富山県), although it is located very close to the border with Ishikawa Prefecture (石川県) and is easily accessible from Kanazawa (金沢). This onsen is nestled in a deep, ancient volcanic environment in the heart of the mountains, offering an experience of tranquility in contact with nature.

The hot springs of Nukumori no Sato come from a depth of 665 meters and are surrounded by volcanic rock from Iōzan (医王山), a volcano that has accumulated mineral wealth for over 15 million years. This onsen is home to clear, alkaline water that springs out at 45.5 degrees Celsius. Known for its healing properties, it is ideal for relieving nerve and muscle pain and fatigue, as well as improving visitors’ overall health. After bathing, the skin is left soft and the sensation of warmth lingers without the stickiness that is common with other hot springs.

The main bathing area is a large rotenburo (露天風呂), an open-air bath that allows you to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. Surrounded by gardens, this rotenburo is one of the largest in the Hokuriku region and offers spectacular views of the Kurikara (倶利伽羅山) and Hōdatsusan (宝達山) mountains, whose slopes change with the seasons, creating an ever-vibrant and renewed landscape. The spaciousness of this rotenburo provides a feeling of freedom and total connection with nature.

In addition, Nukumori no Sato has a spacious common room made of tatami, where visitors can relax after their bath. The local restaurant offers an excellent selection of mountain dishes, such as fresh grilled fish and cold beer, perfect for completing a total relaxation experience.

This onsen, far from the hustle and bustle, is ideal for those seeking tranquility and a deep connection with natural Japan, being one of the preferred options to disconnect.
